The Hiring Trifecta is:
1) Knowledge
2) Skills
3) Attitude

Some people tell me that they hire for attitude and train for skills and coach for knowledge. Others believe that when it comes to business growth, a winning attitude is everything and the other two attributes can be learned. What do you look for when hiring? Can a potential candidate pretend to have the required knowledge, necessary skills or positive attitude?

In an interview situation, almost no candidate will reveal their shortcomings. Consider this potential candidate’s response, “I have a diploma, two years hands-on experience, I’m a team player and always strive to do better.”

If you were part of an interview conversation like this, how would you respond?
